Hello, I am Michael Bailey. Welcome to the bass page
My Playing and performing music has always been a part of my life. I started playing and learning bass when I was about 10 years old. Bass and guitar were my instruments of choice through my school life and have remained constants through my adulthood.
I love performing and being a part of a collective of musicians. Through my musical career I have been lucky enough to perform across Tasmania and in Queensland.
Although playing mostly covers in local bands like Captain Mannering, Northern Republic and AMG, I also released an album of originals under the name “The Shot” in the late 2010’s. Pleasingly a number of the songs charted on JJJ’s Unearthed with one, “From Home” reaching number 3.
Through the years I have been lucky enough to perform on some of our State’s biggest stages such as the main stage at Festivale and as support for The Angels, The Screaming Jets, Jimmy Barnes, The Choirboys and Darryl Braithwaite on their Tasmanian tours.
I try to keep my bass style simple and focussed on the groove remembering that people dance to the bass.
My favourite bass with my favourite amp. A ‘57 Fender P Bass reissue with an Ampeg V4B and 8x10 cab…”the fridge”
One of my high school bands, Stallion, where I played keys. We won the Tasmanian High School “Battle of the Bands” back in 1985…. Oh hair I do miss you
